Candidate Support Fees Policy

The Wyoming National Board Certification Initiative recognizes the value of accomplished teachers in Wyoming classrooms and schools. To increase the number of National Board Certified Teachers in Wyoming, the Initiative, as part of its support of active candidates, will pay up to $2000 of the initial assessment fee through private and public dollars received from the Ellbogen Foundations, the State Legislature and Federal Subsidy. Additionally, the Initiative will support Year 2 and Year 3 candidates up to a maximum amount of $600 per year.

Candidates who elect to accept this financial support agree to submit four complete entries for the portfolio and to complete all assessment center exercises in Year One within the timelines set by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. If a candidate becomes an advanced candidate and elects to accept financial support, the candidate agrees to submit the necessary number of entries to become certified for each year of their candidacy. All candidates will sign this policy as a statement of their understanding and acceptance of these conditions. Financial support will not be granted until this requirement is met.

In the event that you are unable to complete all the stated assessment requirements, you have the option to formally withdraw through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards prior to the submission of any portfolio entries and/or assessment center exercises. Withdrawal must be completed within the timelines set by the National Board. A timely withdrawal will relieve you of your responsibilities to the Initiative. However, should you not undertake a timely withdrawal or complete all assessment requirements and your status is therefore reported by the National Board as “Incomplete” or “No Attempt”, reimbursement in the amount of $1,000 to the Wyoming National Board Certification Initiative will be required by February 1, 2014.

The Initiative reserves the right to deny any further financial support when candidates do not complete all of the requirements of the process as outlined.

I have read and understand the policy above and agree to meet all of the stated expectations for each year that I am a candidate.
